Riverside County Office of Education(RCOE) offers countywide participantsregularly scheduled opportunities toexpand their knowledge of effectivefamily engagement strategies, obtainfree or low-cost parent resources, andshare ideas with others actively workingin the area of family engagement.

To create the kinds of school-familypartnerships that raise studentachievement, improve local communities,and increase public support, we need tounderstand the difference between familyinvolvement and family engagement.
One of the dictionary definitions of involveis "to enfold or envelope," whereas one ofthe meanings of engage is "to cometogether and interlock." Thus,involvement implies doing to; in contrast,engagement implies doing with.
