The UBC Dentistry Program consists of 4 years but you are required to take 3 academic years at UBC or another equal school toqualify.
The UBC Program is year-long starting at the 2nd or 3rd week of August ending at the 3rd week of June.
You cannot complete the program over a shorter or longer time frame.
There are no courses required to complete in high school but you have to take courses in University for prerequisites that areneeded to enter the program.

There are no electives for this program.
There is practicum in the UBC Dentistry Program for it’s students where they get to take care of real clients in a clinical setting.The students do General Dentistry where they do root canals, basic care, extractions, and other basic oral care to keep their teethand gums healthy like fillings and so on. They are also supervised when they are working by UBC Dentistry Program staff andlicensed hygiene practitioners.
The on-the-job component is not paid, it is part of the UBC Doctor of Dental Medicine Program.
This program is a complete program with 4 years of study where you gradually learn about dental medicine to learn how tomanage the clinic and patients.
The credentials I will receive when I complete this program is a degree of the Doctor of Dental Medicine. It willhelp you to become a dentist and a degree which comes with more jobs available for you than certificates ordiplomas.

•Entrance Requirements:
•Should be a Canadian or permanent Canadian Citizen. (You can apply if you are out of the province but only 10% of them areselected )
•Complete 3 years (90 credits) at UBC or a similar university by April 2015.

This programs prepares you to become a general dentist with a high degree and to have a high form of intelligence in this job. Itprepares you to know how to handle patients, the clinic, and how to do basic work on teeth.
There is a lot of demand for this occupation because of the increasing number of people and because of the aging people who needmore help with their teeth. People will want a dentist who isn’t busy all the time and is closer to where they live.

I think I am a good candidate for this program because it is close to home. This program is in Vancouver BC which is close to myfamily and I don’t have to travel far away and really depend on myself. In addition, because I live in British Columbia I will likelybe chosen to join the program because only 10% of the students out of province are accepted. I am also very good with managingmy time because this program will need a lot of time put into it. I also think that my family will afford the money needed for thisprogram in a few years so that I can go into the DMD program. Additionally I kind of know how to work in small groups and learnindependently, which is needed for this program.
I also have a big passion for dentistry because I’ve always been interested in it. When I was young I used to always be scared of thedentist when I had fillings and root canals. So I searched up how to get rid of the fear and I gradually got interested. I learnt a lot ofthings and my dentist even taught me a few things about why teeth need root canals and more. I also want to help people get rid ofthis fear and help their mouth become healthy. I try to be patient with my time which is greatly needed because you need 3 years ofprerequisites to enter. Lastly I will try my best which I think is needed throughout everything in life.
