Types of microscopes
Compound Light Microscope
– uses a
series of lenses to magnify objects.
Electron Microscope
– uses beam of
electrons instead of light to magnify
structures.

Magnifications
Eyepiece is 10x
Low power - 4x = ________x
Medium power - 10x = _______x
High power - 40x = _______x
Putting Microscope away
Adjust course adjustment knob to its lowest
position
Remove slide
Move objectives to “scan” or “low” power
Power off and unplug
Wrap cord and cover
Move it back away from the edge of the lab table
Rules
Never move course adjustment knob
Always tell teacher if you
Break a slide
Microscope doesn’t work
Or you cant get specimen focused
Only carry microscope from its arm
Always focus on low power
