Accommodation Defined
Changes in the curriculum, instruction, or testingformat or procedures that enable students withdisabilities to participate in a way that allows themto demonstrate their abilities rather than disabilities.Accommodations are generally considered toinclude assistive technology as well as changes inpresentation, response, timing, scheduling, andsettings that do not fundamentally alter therequirements. Accommodations do not invalidateassessment results.

Adaptation(Modification)
Changes to curriculum, instruction, or assessmentsthat fundamentally alter the requirements, but thatenable a student with an impairment thatsignificantly impacts performance an opportunity toparticipate. Adaptations include strategies thatchange the level of learning expectation.Adaptations invalidate assessment results andprovide incomparable results.
