Summary: Chapter 53
After receiving a mysteriousnote, Pip makes his way to the Sluicehouse and lets himself in because hehears no answer. A few minutes laterhe is attacked by a man who he laterdiscovers to be Dolge Orlick. Orlickreveals that he killed Mrs. Joe andthreatens to take Pip’s life as well.Pip’s saviors (Herbert, Trabb’s son,and Startop) scare Orlick away andquestion Pip as to what happened.They decide to return to London andtend to Pip’s hurt arm.

Summary: Chapter 54
Pip, Herbert, and Startopmade there way to Clara’shouse on the Thames river toretrieve Magwitch and help himescape. Pip and Magwitch planto get on a German Steamer toget to “the other side of theworld.” While on their way,another rowboat shows up withCompeyson in it. Magwitch andCompeyson jump into the waterand attack each other but onlyMagwitch resurfaces. He ischained up and led away toprison. Pip promises to stay byhim and help free him.
