In the New England colonies,children were taught to read sothey could study the Bible. Boysgot to also learn Latin and Mathand other subjects to get intocollege. Girls could learn to read,but they weren't allowed to go togrammar school or to college.
In the Middle Colonies, mostschools were private. Studentsalso learned other subjects sothey could get into college. Girlsweren't allowed to attend (unlessthey were Quakers).
In the Southern Colonies, childrenwere mostly taught at home. As inthe other colonies, Southern girlsdid not go to higher schooling.

As colonists settled and spread across New England, they enteredland that was already lived on by Native Americans.

The Native Americans andcolonists began attacking eachothers villages.
They had very different ideasabout owning land.  Nativesbelieved no one could own landwhile colonists believed youcould own it if you claim it.
Arguments began to lead to warresulting in lives lost. Sometribes were nearly completelywiped out because the Englishsettlers had many advancedweapons.
