Limericks all have the same rhyme scheme. Here is an example:
There was an old man from Peru
Who dreamt he was eating his shoe.
He woke in the night
In a terrible fright,
And found it was perfectly true.
Tasks
(1) Copy the poem and write out the rhyme scheme next to the lines.
(2) To get the rhythm correct, also count the number of syllables or unitsof sound in each line as well.
(3) Try to write your own, starting with one of the following:
(A) There was a young person called ...........................
(B) A woman who bought a new.............................
(C) There once was an old man from.....................
