It is the mission of the BreathittCounty School District to produceCollege and Career Readygraduates by providing qualityeducational programs and servicesto all students in a nurturing,learning environment.

BCS is committed to excellence with a goal of preparingstudents to succeed for life. Faculty and staff of our schoolsare committed to providing students with quality instructionand quality assessments (formative and summative) forstudent learning. Although technology continues to be afocus, BCS is also committed to implementing the newCommon Core Standards. BCS's mission is to partner withparents and community to provide equitable education andsocial opportunities with high standards for performancewith a goal of Career and Career Readiness for eachgraduate of Breathitt County Schools.

Vision vs. Mission
■A vision is the school’sgoal. Where you hope tosee it in the future.
■A vision is concise andeasy to recall.
■A mission provides anoverview of the stepsplanned to achieve thatfuture.
■A mission is lengthier andmore explanatory innature.
Drafting Session
■Break into teams and choose a scribe.
■Guiding questions:
–What kind of district do we hope to become?
–What do you think should be reflected in ourvision/mission statements?
–How are we different from other districts?
