Biology 14 Library Research:An Evolving Collaboration
What are the outcomes?
Students learn information literacy skillsthrough a self-paced, self-scheduledenvironment.
Students work is graded, making it worththeir effort and establishing this libraryresearch assignment’s importance.
Biology 14 Library Research:An Evolving Collaboration
What are the outcomes?
Information literacy skills are integratedinto a traditional lab-based biology course.
Biology teaching assistants and instructorsare taught the importance of informationliteracy pedagogy.
Biology 14 Library Research:An Evolving Collaboration
What are the outcomes?
Tisch Library’s resources are better used.
Further outreach and collaboration with theBiology Department.

Outreach and Collaboration
Have worked with 15/21 Biology faculty toteach information literacy skills andresearch resources to their classes.
Steady increase in number of Biologycourse library sessions.
Biology 14 Library Research:An Evolving Collaboration
Outreach and Collaboration
Assist Biology graduate students.
Library web site is linked from the Biologydepartment web site, as well as from a fewof the professors laboratory sites.

Future Goals and Challenges
Interactivity: web-based quizzes/assignment;BLOG technology; Robo demos?
Assignments are open-ended and designed touncover student’s interests…how to change, yetmaintain this important aspect.
Continue to assess/evaluate, but bring the studentsurvey to the web; maybe make it mandatory?
Biology 14 Library Research:An Evolving Collaboration
Future Goals and Challenges
Integrate with Blackboard?
Roving reference…good possibility.
Investigate integration with Triple III’sMillennium, Metafind and Web Bridge.
