Now there is great gain in godliness withcontentment,  for we brought nothing into theworld, and we cannot take anything out of theworld. But if we have food and clothing, withthese we will be content. But those who desireto be rich fall into temptation, into a snare,into many senseless and harmful desires thatplunge people into ruin and destruction. Forthe love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.It is through this craving that some havewandered away from the faith and piercedthemselves with many pangs.
Sacrifice Happiness
Desire for riches gets in the way of happiness Expect security, pleasure, no worries Yet feel unsafe, rob of pleasure, more worries We should Learn contentment With money as goal, we find ourselves with unexpected problems & habits What do we gain with great wealth but no love? Why worry about money & fail to enjoy the life & blessings we have been given?
James 4:13-16
Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrowwe will go into such and such a town andspend a year there and trade and make aprofit" yet you do not know what tomorrowwill bring. What is your life? For you are a mistthat appears for a little time and thenvanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lordwills, we will live and do this or that." As it is,you boast in your arrogance. All such boastingis evil.
Sacrifice Happiness
Can you control your life & future? Will business savvy or experience keep you safe? No one can predict what the future holds If happiness is centered on wealth… What if you lose your money? What if the economy bottoms out? Money is not the cure for Unhappiness!
Greed Sacrifices People

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseriesthat are coming upon you. Your riches have rottedand your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold andsilver have corroded, and their corrosion will beevidence against you and will eat your flesh likefire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed yourfields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying outagainst you, and the cries of the harvesters havereached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have livedon the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. Youhave fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Obsessed with making money Had plenty, but horded it Stop caring about others Took unfair advantage of laborers Hardened heart toward needs of others Receive very little from riches Riches wasted away Lived in luxury but selfishly

More important things than money We are accountable for our soul When we put wealth above God we lose the more important things in life Give up happiness Lose touch with others in need Ultimately lose chance to know God

What matters most? Those around you Opportunity to share & do good for others What do you want near when you face death? Your money & stuff Or people who love you & will miss you
