Two weeks ago, we had a story about a man who had 12 sonsand one of those sons was his favorite. Who can remember thefavorite sons name?
Let’s get up to date on our story.
What happened between Joseph and his brothersthat made them hate their younger brother???
The Story of Joseph and his
Family and how they ended up
In Egypt.
Because God loved Jacob and his family, theyeventually ended up in Egypt and were veryrespected and became wealthy. But eventually,people forgot about Joseph and began to hatethese Jews (as they were called) because of theirmoney and power.
Finally, a new Pharaoh took the throne by the name of ThutmoseIII who wanted to build grand cities in honor of himself, butlabor was expensive and so he enslaved the entire Jewishpopulation and forced them to build his cities.

And who rememberswhat happened lastweek, with a man namedMoses?
And eventually… he did let themgo. And that is where we take upour story this morning. Mosesand all of the Jewish people areheading out of Egypt towards theland that God has promisedthem…
The Exodus
Moses and his followersdon’t really know wherethey are going, but God givesthem help in the form of agreat pillar of Cloud thatleads them in the day-timeand a pillar of fire that leadsthem at night.
So Moses and his people are finallyfree to leave this land that has beentheir home for over 400 years. Andwhen they leave, they take great richeswith them and most importantly, theyleave as the work-force that has builtthe great city of the Kings.
And then, the great Pharaoh has a change of mind…

So Pharaoh decides to go after Mosesand his people and bring them back toEgypt

10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there werethe Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and criedout to the LORD. 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there wereno graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? Whathave you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Didn’t we say toyou in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It wouldhave been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in thedesert!”
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and youwill see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptiansyou see today you will never see again. 14 The LORD will fight foryou; you need only to be still.”
