Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
The exam is open to anyone with a degree in engineering or arelated field, or currently enrolled in the last year of an ABET-accredited engineering degree program.
Obtain several years of engineering experience under thesupervision of a licensed engineer, then pass the Principlesand Practice of Engineering Exam.
After completing these steps and the granting of licensure bya State Board, engineers may use the title "ProfessionalEngineer" or PE in advertising and documents.
