Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for theywill be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utterevery kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me.

Form small groups. Each group will work with one of the Beatitudes
One person in each group will play the role of Jesus speaking to thecrowd. Before the person plays this role, your group must help himor her know exactly what is meant by the Beatitude assigned to thegroup.
Once every small group has had time to prepare, the "Jesus" fromeach group will present his or her Beatitude to the other groups. Heor she should respond thoughtfully to questions and give practicalexamples of how to act out this Beatitude. The group that workedwith each "Jesus1' should be ready to support that person. Theother small groups will make up the crowd and serve as a soundingboard for the ideal that Jesus speaks of in this particular Beatitude.
