The value of a good example
1 Corinthians 11:1 -- Follow my example,as I follow the example of Christ.
Philippians 3:18-19--For, as I have oftentold you before andnow say again evenwith tears, many liveas enemies of thecross of Christ. Theirdestiny is destruction,their god is theirstomach, and theirglory is in their shame.Their mind is onearthly things.
The tragedy of a bad example
•1 Corinthians 10:6-- Now these thingsoccurred asexamples to keepus from setting ourhearts on evil thingsas they did.
Jude 1:7 -- In a similar way, Sodom andGomorrah and the surrounding towns gavethemselves up to sexual immorality andperversion. They serve as an example ofthose who suffer the punishment of eternalfire.

John 13:15 -- Ihave set you anexample that youshould do as Ihave done foryou.
1 Peter 2:20b-21 --But if you suffer fordoing good and youendure it, this iscommendable beforeGod. To this you werecalled, becauseChrist suffered foryou, leaving you anexample, that youshould follow in hissteps.
In what areas should we set example?
In speech
Colossians 4:6 -- Let your conversation bealways full of grace, seasoned with salt, sothat you may know how to answereveryone.
Ephesians 4:29 --Do not let anyunwholesome talkcome out of yourmouths, but onlywhat is helpful forbuilding others upaccording to theirneeds, that it maybenefit those wholisten.
In love
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a -- Love is patient,love is kind. It does not envy, it doesnot boast, it is not proud. It is not rude,it is not self-seeking, it is not easilyangered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil butrejoices with the truth. It alwaysprotects, always trusts, always hopes,always perseveres. Love never fails
John 13:35 --By this allmen will knowthat you aremy disciples,if you loveone another."
In Faith
2 Peter 1:5 -- For this very reason, makeevery effort to add to your faith goodness;and to goodness, knowledge….
In purity
Proverbs30:12--…those whoare pure intheir own eyes and yetare notcleansed oftheir filth…
Philippians 4:8 -- Finally, brothers,whatever is true, whatever is noble,whatever is right, whatever is pure,whatever is lovely, whatever isadmirable—if anything is excellent orpraiseworthy—think about such things.
A special note to our youth…
Let no man look down on youryouthfulness.
Learn holiness and purity when you areyoung…
Ecclesiastes 12:1, 6 -- Remember yourCreator in the days of your youth, beforethe days of trouble come and the yearsapproach when you will say, "I find nopleasure in them"-
6 “Remember him—before the silver cord issevered, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at thespring, or the wheel broken at the well….”
Our holy example should be the samewhether we are with the church or in oureveryday lives.
To be an effective church we must bepermeated with Christ.
To be an effective church we must live goodand godly lives before others, letting themsee the beauty of Jesus in each of us.
