Pyramids
•Pyramids are built of limestone blocksthat weigh in a range of 1.5 tons to 9.0tons!
• Building these monuments takes atremendous amount of labor. Imaginetransporting these blocks by hand!
• Pyramid supplies were transported bythe Nile River.
•One of the first pyramids was built in2600 B.C!
One of the most famous pyramids waspyramid Giza, it’s also know as the GreatPyramid. This pyramid was so big that somepeople think that it took up to 20 years tobuild!
The pyramid of Mankaure was 215 feet high. Itis one of the three major pyramids of Giza.Archeologist think that this pyramid was builtfor a king and his family. The originalsarcophagus was removed from the pyramidand shipped on a boat in 1838. The boat sankand the sarcophagus was never seen again.
Another famous pyramid is pyramid Khufu. Khufu wasbroken into in a unique way. These burglars first startedoff by with lighting the rock on fire then they put coldvinegar on the stone.In this process the stone wasweakened and they pounded on the rock and then brokeinto the passage ways. This Pyramid was 146 meters tall!
Many pyramids have entrances but somewere nearly invisible. The Egyptians that builtthese pyramid tried to trick the robbers in somany ways such as lowering the pharaoh intothe pyramid so that there were no passagesleading to it, making many fake doors andpassage ways, booby traps, and some of therobbers would help build the pyramid so theywould know all of the passage ways and trapdoors.

•You need the Ka(your body double) theBa(personality) and the ank(the Egyptianssymbol of life)
•The things that are valuable to you such asyour jewelry
•Models because they took up less room in theafterlife.
The after life starts in the process oftaking out your organs all accept for theheart. These organs are put in theCanopic jars.They believed that thesejars protected their body.Then theprocess of mummification. After you aremummified they believed that youtraveled to the after life by boat.
Canopic Jars
•There are four different jars that have headson top of them. They include the human headthe baboon head the falcon and the jackal.
•These heads represented the “Four Sons OfHorus”
•They put these heads on because theybelieved that they protected them in theafterlife.
•The organs that were put in the jar turned intooil which tomb robbers stole and sold formoney.
