The strawberry is an herbaceous perennial.
Perennial portion of the plant is the crown, which isthe stem

Strawberries plants are shallow rooted with 50% to90% of the root in the top 6’’ of the soil
How You Should PlantThem In The Ground
The center plant is setcorrectly, with thesoil just coveringthe tops of theroots. The plant onthe left is set tooshallow, the planton the right toodeep
When To plantStrawberries
Plant strawberries as soon as theground can be worked on in the spring
This is usually around March or April
Do not work the soil if it is wet
Wait a few days till it’s totally dry

Grasp the stem just above the berrybetween the forefinger and thethumbnail and pull with a slight twistmotion
With the stem broken about one-halfinch from the berry, allow it to roll intothe palm of your hand
