Report on the Window burst test

MTA Absorber Design Progress
•This windows are of a nominal 21cm diameter
•The diameter was selected to fit on the forced flowabsorber inside the 40cm. diameter magnet bore(lab G magnet)
•The design called for 25psi MOP and rupture up to100psi
•The bellow type new configuration was aimed toachieve a minimum of 105 micron thickness at thecenter
•Data from the burst test on this window will beused to verify the window design parameters forMICE

Measurements results
•Photogrametry technique give the minimumthickness to be 190 microns
•Gauged thickness on the burst windowmaterial at the center measured 101 microns
•The above measurements included 15micron total of the material (spray paint)coating both sides of the window
•Donald Summers reported a centralthickness of 117 microns (no paint)
Burst test
•No fatal events as predicted, a safetyanalysis was submitted before the test forapproval
•Pressure was apply to the window/platevolume on increments of 5psig
•A leak developed over the elastomer gasketat 133psig
•Changed the gasket 2.5mm instead of .8mmdiameter plus vacuum grease
•Repeated test, burs pressure at 144psig
