The New England Colonies
•Colonies: The four original New England Colonies were :New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and RhodeIsland.
•People: The people who settled and lived in the New EnglandColonies were from England.
•Economies: Farming in the New England Colonies was harddue to the poor soil, cold climate and short growing season.Families in New England grew enough food to feed theirfamilies but had to rely on manufacturing and trade to earnlivings.
•Climate: The Climate in the New England colonies was cold
•Geography: The geography of New England was mostly hillsand rocky soil.
•Natural Resources: Fish, whales, trees, and furs.
•Religion: Puritan. Lacked Religious freedom.
The Middle Colonies
•Colonies: The Middle Colonies consisted of Delaware,Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
•People: Most ethnically and religiously diverse.
•Climate: Relatively hot. This allowed for a longergrowing season.
•Geography: Made up of hills and flat lands with goodsoil.
•Natural Resources: The natural resources of the middlecolonies were iron ore and good soil.
•Religion: Quakers (led by William Penn), Catholics,Lutherans, Jews, and others.
The Southern Colonies
•Colonies: Virginia, Maryland, North and South Carolina, andGeorgia.
•People: Diverse and consisted of many European nationalities.
•Climate: Warmest of the three regions and had the longestgrowing season.
•Geography: Had a broad, coastal plain that was hilly andcovered with forests.
•Natural Resources: Farm lands, forests, and fish.
•Religion: Religion did not have a large influence on the dailylives of southern colonists.
Economies of the Colonies
•New England - Manufacturing. Agriculture was not profitable dueto poor soils, cold temperatures, and the short growing season.Manufactures ships due to having a lot of lumber. Trade focused onexporting goods that they produced.
•Farming big in the Middle Colonies. They had better soil, warmerweather, and a longer growing season. They produced food.Manufacturing in the middle region was focused on iron oreproducts. The Middle Colonies both exported agricultural productsand natural resources and imported manufactured goods.
•The Southern Colonies economy was based on agriculture. Theyhad great farming soil, warm climates and a long growing season.The farms here were Plantation Agriculture, farms trying to makemoney.
