How to Download an e-book or e-audio Book from the Library
For most e-readers the compatible formatsinclude EPUB and Adobe PDF ebook. Youwill need to install Adobe Digital Editionson your computer unless you have an IPodTouch, IPad, or an Android phone (i.e. adevice that allows apps). Some e-readersalso accept audio files and in general onlyallow MP3 files (the Nook does).

On this page you can that it saysAvailable copies 0 and there is no link toadd it your eMedia bag but ratherRequest Title instead. This means thatthe book is checked out and you canrequest it and be notified when it isavailable.
Click on the add toeMedia bag (the wish listis a feature that you canuse to keep track of titlesyou would like to read inthe future).
Click on Proceed to Checkout (keep inmind that if you choose Continuebrowsing that it only leaves items inyour cart for a few minutes beforereturning it to the catalog
Choose our Library District and log inwith you library card number and thezip code listed on your card.
Our system automatically defaults to 7days, if you would like more time, changeit here. Once it’s chosen you cannot goback nor can a book be renewed, only
re-checked out.
After you check out your book you will receivethe link to download your book. If you haven’talready downloaded Adobe Digital Edition youmust do so before you download your book.Keep in mind that to download audio books youmust download Overdrive Media Console. Ateach checkout there will be a link to downloadany software that is needed.

Choose Open, your book will beautomatically open your AdobeDigital Editions and begindownloading your book.
All titles automatically getadded to your library and youcan see that each book has anexpiration date since they arelibrary books. Once your bookexpires you will not be able toread it anymore even if youare not connected to yourcomputer.

Your first time it will promptyou to create a free Adobeaccount
Now to transfer your book to your e-reader it must be completely turnedon and you should see a similarmessage to this on your e-reader. If itis not completely connected then itwill not be recognized in your AdobeDigital Editions.
You can see here that theNook is now on the bottomand all I need to do totransfer to click on the titleand continue holding thebutton down so the icondrags (Drag & Drop) acrossthe page until its hoveringover the Nook and you seethe green plus sign. Thenyou let go of the button andit will begin the transfer toyour device.

If you click on yourNook then you cansee all the booksyou have checkedout and how muchlonger you have toread each one.
The only way to get library titles offof your device is to connect tocomputer and click on the arrowabove each title, this gives youoptions where you can delete a title(if expired) or return an item early(this is the only place where you canactually return an item early).
After you hit the download button itwill automatically open OverdriveMedia Console and you will have toconfirm that you want to open the fileand then download the file from thewebsite which it will do in multipleparts depending on how long the bookis.

So after the item is finished downloading you willclick on the item so that it is highlighted and makesure your device is plugged in and click on thetransfer button.
Click the next button andit will search for youdevice, if it finds it thenyou will get the nextwindow with your devicelisted as the Player.

It will tell you when your book is donetransferring and once you see thiswindow telling its safe to disconnect youhave finished downloading and maynow enjoy your book!!
Freegal is a free music download service offeredthrough the library’s website and can be accessedthrough the main page. Once you click on the linkyou must log in with your library card and pinnumber.

The first time you log onyou will have to acceptthe user agreement. Fromthere you can select asong to download, youget 3 song downloads aweek per library card.
You can search by genre, or by thename of the artist or look throughthe featured or newly addedcategories
Once you make your choice,click the download link(there are no take backs!).
You can save the file to yourdesktop or wherever, these songscan be dragged and dropped intoiTunes or a device like we areshowing here.
To put the music on your e-reader you will have toopen the “My Computer” and then double click on theicon for you device (like our Nook listed above)
The nook has folders alreadyset up for certain files likemusic.
From here just click on themusic file shown, saved on thedesk top, and holding downthe button, drag the file intothe open music file on theNook or into ITunes or yourWindows Media Player. Onceyou see the little plus sign youcan release the button andyour file will be copied to yourdevice.
