This year, we have many new and exciting things going on with our AAPG Chapter along withmany of the other activities that have helped make our chapter one of the strongest in all ofAAPG worldwide. These events include, but are not limited to, technical short courses, lunch-n-learns, field trips, Video conferences with international student chapters, and other socialactivities. We provide for many different ways to get involved with the department ofgeology and geophysics as well as many of the oil and gas companies. We are also excitedcontinue our legacy events, the "AAPG Talk Exchange" which will be a student speaker seriesthroughout the year where our students present in an informal setting to their peers as aform of information transfer within our organization; and our third Alumni/student GolfTournament, which is a social event to interact the student and industry community.
Our student chapter is very diverse in terms of its membership. We have over 80 memberswith a very good mix of geologists, geophysicists and petroleum engineers from bothundergraduate and graduate programs. Our main goals are to promote fellowship within thedepartment as well as giving our members various skill sets that they can transfer over to thepetroleum industry.
